Performance in/and the Streets is The Second Annual York University Graduate Program in Theatre Studies Symposium on Theatre and Performance. The symposium is conceived, organized, and facilitated by York Theatre Studies graduate students. The one-day event is scheduled for 26 April 2013.

Last year’s inaugural symposium, Activist Performance in/and Canada, provided an opportunity for dialogue between both emerging and established scholars from across Canada engaged in the field of activist performance. Additionally, the symposium bridged the activist/scholar divide through its inclusion of community, queer and disability rights activists. Building on the momentum of last year’s successful event, Performance in/and the Streets aims to assemble scholars engaged in the study of a range of street performances and other public acts of social engagement in order to stimulate interdisciplinary dialogue.
